Serving people first is the most rewarding path

Chapter 01

Where it began

My entrepreneurial journey began in an unexpected place: watching my father, a factory worker, transform a simple favor for our pastor — refinishing furniture — into a successful family-run business. Seeing how meticulous attention to detail and genuine care for clients could quickly grow a venture sparked my own passion for entrepreneurship.

Chapter 02

Building the foundation

I built on those lessons by pursuing formal training in accounting, working at Deloitte, and turning around struggling businesses. After passing the CPA exam, I took on accounting and general management roles, which led me to help rescue a small family-run music company from near-bankruptcy. Within a year, sales doubled and profits tripled.

Chapter 03

Striking out on my own

When an economic downturn left me unemployed, I started my own CPA firm armed with an IBM 8088 computer and a credit card, mailing letters to local businesses and hosting free workshops. Those workshops connected me with thousands of small business owners and quickly built a strong client base.

Chapter 04

From finance to service

I later shifted into financial services, guided by mentorship from Tom Hopkins and Brian Tracy, using a consultative sales approach to help seniors protect their retirement. Along the way I earned an MBA from Clemson University, sharpening my strategic marketing, management, and leadership skills.

Chapter 05

The gap in real estate

Through my interactions with real estate professionals, I recognized a gap between the transaction-driven culture prevalent in many brokerages and the genuine desire many agents have to serve their clients. The dog-eat-dog mentality, lack of true mentorship, and insufficient support left many agents feeling undervalued — a meaningful opportunity to build a brokerage on shared values.

Chapter 06

Testing the vision

I began testing through a dedicated marketing funnel that clearly outlines our mission, vision, values, and aspirations. Interested agents see a transparent picture of who we are and what we offer — in writing. I then conduct personal interviews to ensure each candidate aligns with our service-first philosophy.

Chapter 07

Early results

Early results have been encouraging: the first hire came soon after we launched the updated funnel, with several more agents now in the pipeline. Their feedback confirms how important robust training, personal mentorship, and immediate support are to success.

The vision

Ultimately, my vision is to foster a growing partnership of South Carolina real estate brokers who embrace a consultative, client-first ethos — built on the same principles that propelled my CPA firm and financial services practice: straight-forward relationships, authentic leadership, and continuous improvement. If you're an agent seeking more than just a numbers game, I invite you to explore how this approach can help you thrive.
